IHWC: intelligent hidden web crawler for harvesting data in urban domains

    Get PDF
Due to the massive size of the hidden web, searching, retrieving and mining rich and high-quality data can be a daunting task. Moreover, with the presence of forms, data cannot be accessed easily. Forms are dynamic, heterogeneous and spread over trillions of web pages. Significant efforts have addressed the problem of tapping into the hidden web to integrate and mine rich data. Effective techniques, as well as application in special cases, are required to be explored to achieve an effective harvest rate. One such special area is atmospheric science, where hidden web crawling is least implemented, and crawler is required to crawl through the huge web to narrow down the search to specific data. In this study, an intelligent hidden web crawler for harvesting data in urban domains (IHWC) is implemented to address the relative problems such as classification of domains, prevention of exhaustive searching, and prioritizing the URLs. The crawler also performs well in curating pollution-related data. The crawler targets the relevant web pages and discards the irrelevant by implementing rejection rules. To achieve more accurate results for a focused crawl, ICHW crawls the websites on priority for a given topic. The crawler has fulfilled the dual objective of developing an effective hidden web crawler that can focus on diverse domains and to check its integration in searching pollution data in smart cities. One of the objectives of smart cities is to reduce pollution. Resultant crawled data can be used for finding the reason for pollution. The crawler can help the user to search the level of pollution in a specific area. The harvest rate of the crawler is compared with pioneer existing work. With an increase in the size of a dataset, the presented crawler can add significant value to emission accuracy. Our results are demonstrating the accuracy and harvest rate of the proposed framework, and it efficiently collect hidden web interfaces from large-scale sites and achieve higher rates than other crawlers

    Get PDF
This paper provides the insight view about the environmental hazards and its impact on human health. Environmental hazards means every type of disorder that occur in the environment .Hazards can present themselves to us in various media e.g. air, water. The influence they can exert on our health is very complex and may be modulated by our genetic makeup, psychological factors and by our perceptions of the risks that they present. Every year thousands of deaths are reported because of environmental hazards. Environmental hazards can affect a particular organ or body system, directly damaging it or leading to further complications. In this paper we discuss about various hazards such as physical hazards (electromagnetic radiation and ionizing radiation),chemical hazards (combustion of coal, petroleum), biological hazards (contamination of water) and psychosocial hazards (stress). And also various types of pollution caused by the environmental hazards which results in various health problems such as liver damage, chronic headaches, mental retardation or damage to reproductive organs. These hazards place extra stress on our bodies

AIM OF THE STUDY: 1. The Aim of the study was to evaluate the accuracy of CT and USG in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in patients who are taken for appendectomy on clinical basis. 2. To calculate the sensitivity, specificity positive predictive and negative predictive value of CT and USG. METHODOLOGY: Patients who were admitted in the surgical emergency ward with clinical findings and symptoms suspected of appendicitis .A total study sample of 100 was selected USG PROTOCOL: A routine USG was done in SONOSCAPE machine for the upper abdomen and pelvis using a 3-5тАУMHz convex transducer to rule out alternative abnormalities related to solid organs and to rule out free fluid. Then graded compression and colour Doppler sonography of the right lower quadrant giving attention to the site of maximal tenderness was performed using a linear transducer. CT PROTOCOL: Examinations were performed on a MDCT performed using a 4-slice C scanner (TOSHIBA) at 120 kVp and 100 mAs; a pitch of 1 was used. CT of the lower abdomen and pelvis, from the xiphoid to the pubic symphysis, was performed with 80 mL of non-ionic contrast material Iohexol 350 (Omnipaque 350) was injected through a 18-gauge cannula placed in the volar aspect in the cubital vein at a flow rate of 4 ml/s and delay of 50 sec. Axial reconstructions from the raw data were done at 3 mm thick, at 1.5-mm increments were obtained. The second data set was reformatted coronal at a thickness of 3 mm with 3-mm increments .No oral contrast was used. RESULT: From the study it is concluded that CT is more sensitive, specificity, PPV,NPV. Hence, the CT investigation is more accuracy than USG in diagnosing cases of appendicitis. CONCLUSION: Evaluating a case of appendicitis is mainly clinical, depending on the clinical scores and signs. But there is increase in the negative appendectomy rate on depending only on clinical findings. Usually USG is the first primary techniques, considering its easy availability, low cost and reproducible with no radiation But it has its own pitfalls, being operator dependent . CT on the other hand is more specific than USG and hence could rule out appendicitis. Most of the studies including our study has shown that CT has more sensitivity, specificity, Negative predictive value and Positive predictive value in diagnosing appendicitis. Weighing the cost versus the radiation and the real need to rule out appendicitis, and the dire need in search of alternate diagnosis should be considered before deciding over which imaging modality to choose. But CT without doubt has definitely more diagnostic performance than USG in acute appendicitis and our study also proves the same
